Spring and Fall Program
Columbia Sailing School proudly hosts one of the Midwest district's largest high school sailing programs (MISSA). Over the years, the Sailing School’s program has grown to host over 80 sailors in a varsity and junior varsity division. The Fall Season begins in September and runs through November; the Spring Season runs from March through May. The program consists of the following established teams: U of C Lab School, Lane Tech College Prep, Whitney Young, Lyons Township, Jones College Prep, Lincoln Park, and Oak Park River Forest.
Our Varsity Team is for the more experienced sailors at our schools, sailing in local, regional, and national regattas. Our JV/Developmental Team is for sailors still refining their skills, and they have the opportunity to compete in local events and scrimmages. To be on the Varsity team, you must have previous experience and be approved by the On the Water Director.
You must have your own boat to sail in our Opti Green RWB Program. If you do not have your own vessel and are interested, contact sail@colyc.org.
